Bluetooth Keyboard Problem with Type2Phone

Good evening. I have the Mac app type2phone that I sometimes use with my iPhone. I mostly use a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. The quick nav keys no longer work on my Logitech keyboard. I can no longer double tap using the up and down arrows. Is there anything I need to do, or should I not use the type2phone app?

Overtime Rush Beta Accessibility For iOS

Dear all.
I'm very convinced with the newly designed video game for iOS - Overtime Rush. I'm a beta tester of this app, unfortunately it is totally inaccessible with VoiceOver. I would love to have this app fully accessible with or without the use of VoiceOver. I've contacted the developer personally and I'm expecting a reply from the developer. Users can contact the developer via email at beta@overtimerush.com.
More information about the game could be found here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1592452374/overtime-rush-for-ipad.
The more requests developers receive from blind users, the much easier for them to make their apps accessible.
Good luck.

tip for when you forcibly shutt your phone off with home and power buttons.

Hi all, just thought I would post a tip for those of you who like me sometimes have to forcibly shut your phone off with the home and power buttons held down together.
I am sure like me you frequently have problems working out when you have held the buttons down for long enough, and either you release them two quickly, or even worse hold the buttons down for two long and put the phone into recovery mode which I have no idea how you would get out of without sighted help.
Anyway I recently discovered a nice trick for working out when you have held the buttons enough and can release them without doing either of the above putting the phone into recovery or not turning it off.
The trick if you can do it is to put on a pair of in ear headphones when you hold the buttons, I have found that when you do this you hear a very audible pop when the phone powers off and you can then release the buttons safe in the knowledge that the phone has shut down and not gone into recovery mode.
I have tried with over the ear headphones but have found it hard if not impossible to hear the pop sound, but I guess other people might have more luck.
I have only been able to test this on a 5s but don't see why this trick couldn't work on other phones.
Just thought I would share in case people find it useful.

Hi guys, I updated my iPhone 4s from iOS 6.13 to 7.1 yesterday. Since than I have been having a major problem with sound effects on my phone.
every time I touch the screen, it's making some weird noises beside sound effects. Well, it's quite difficult to describe that noise, all I can say is that it's really annoying especially if I am typing a message or browsing something on Safari.
Anyone else having the same problem? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Shannon.

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 5/5c/5s

Accessibility Comments

At a glance it does appear to be very accessible. However, once you get in to using this app. This is where things became very difficult to use. In short for a blind person to use this app. It is completely inaccessible to use this in a meaningful way. See below for more information.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.

Other Comments

When you open this app for the first time. At a first glance it will appear to be fully accessible. Everything looks nice and it was easy to navigate as such.

The first problem that I had was how does one use it? After fiddling around with it for quite a while. I got nowhere and just gave up. So I did the next best thing. I got somebody with vision to sit down with me and see if we couldn't figure this out together.

As it turns out. There is a Search area in which I had seen at first. However, to me with no vision I figured out why nothing happen to me. If one enter Pizza Hut for example. There is a Map on this page and it will show you all of the pins of where a Pizza Hut could be found. Well those with no vision could not see this. So this makes this part completely inaccessible for me to use.

So we tried just entering an address. We did have some success at first. If you put your finger directly in the center of this map. You will hear the address you have entered. However, this is also where it became more pragmatic. Once I had double tap on this address. You will hear that there is a pop up. When I swipe to the left or right. I got a few things and one had to be quick about it. The first problem is that there are unable buttons and thus making it more difficult to use. It just was too difficult to use.

So after this observation. This would not be something a typical visually impaired person could just simply pick up and be able to use easily. Unfortunately, it is inaccessible to use in a meaningful way. Those with some vision could possibly use it but those that rely on just the Voiceover. It is very difficult and I just can recommend in using this app.

Hopefully, that the developer can possibly make this more accessible and easier for us to use. I think it can be possible but we will sit back and see in what they do in future releases of this app.

IOS 7.1 and 'location tracking'

$
0
0

Hi All,
I updated IOS to 7.1 yesterday and I have not experienced any problems so far apart from 'location tracking' being 'on' all the time. Previously, I went to the app switcher by hitting the home button twice and doing the three finger swipe thing to close them down. However, with IOS 7.1 I have no apps open and the 'location tracking' is still on. It is not that problematic but it does drain the battery a bit (today in eight hours I went from 100 percent to 74 percent) without much use but it is annoying because I know it's there!
Is it a fault with IOS 7.1 or is there an easy solution that I don't know about?

Just for the record, I find IOS 7.1 fine apart from a slight reduction in the clicking noise when I hit the four number code to open my iPhone 5s if I don't use the finger print process.

Thank you,

Steve.

Anyone experiencing problems with Bluetooth Keyboards on IOS 7.1?

Hi everyone,
I recently updated to IOS 7.1.
I really like the update, however, I recently experienced a problem. When I was typing a message with my Bluetooth keyboard with the quicknav turned off, when I wanted to navigate through the words using option key + the arrow keys VoiceOver wouldn't speak the words. When I turned off QuickNav and navigated to the iMessage text field VoiceOver didn't speak the text, so either VoiceOver couldn't detect the text, which I highly doubt, or there's a bugg with the use of Bluetooth keyboards in connection with VoiceOver on the new IOS.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, has anyone got a solution to this?

Voice Over voice not sounding right after IOS update.

Hi,

I updated my iPhone 5 last night to the latest IOS. When the phone restarted, the voice over voice sounded off. It's tinny and a bit garbled. I tried turning the compact voice feature on and off, and there's no significant difference. I'm running the enhanced voice feature as well. I tried using the other English voices, and they sound much better. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? Thank you.

Text Detective is a fully accessible app that reads text from the camera in your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad within seconds. Point the camera and sort through mail, read menus, cards, product packages, medication labels, and all kinds of other print around you.

I noticed that this has just gone free. There is no indication in the description of whether this is for a limited time or permanent.

Petition: Spotify accessibility

$

0

Good morning all,
I rarely post on this site, but I very much value the content it provides. So, lets bring up a topic that has been talked about over and over again.
Spotify's accessibility
I have used spotify for over a year on my iPhone with minimal trouble. I am a premium user, and have nearly 2000 songs in my spotify library, which is my main source for music.
0.9.3 was the last accessible version of spotify and it broke in 0.9.4.
Here is a message I have sent to spotify regarding this issue.
Good morning,

I have upgraded from spotify 0.9.3 to 0.9.4 on an iPhone 5S. I am visually impaired, and use voiceover, a screen reader for IOS. I also use spotify as my main music library. All accessibility issues I've been able to deal with until now.
Here are the problems I'm facing.

My playlists are not visible. When I select playlists, it will show me around five playlists, but will not read the correct names, they are just garbled. Furthermore, when I go in to sed playlist, they are not playlists I have created.

I am sorry if I come across as rude, as I do not mean to, but the accessibility issues are extremely frustrating for me. I have nearly two thousand songs in my spotify library which I now can not access. I know I am not the only one that has asked about spotify accessibility for the visually impaired, so what would it take for some sort of change to happen? This is extremely upsetting to me, Especially since I am a spotify premium user who now can't use the service that is being paid for.

I am not asking for all accessibility issues to be fixed right away, but if the app could be usable, that would be a giant start.

Sincerely,

Chris Harrington
I am planning on starting a petition to turn up the heat on spotify accessibility and was reaching out to see how well this would be received, and to get some help with wording this petition so it sounds as professional as possible.
Thank you all, and I welcome comments!!!

Help IOS 7.1 update has frozen my keyboard.

$

Hello,
I just updated to IOS 7.1 which I believe is the latest version. I am using an iPhone 5 32 gig. When I updated my phone, it seemed like the enitial update didn't fully install, so it prompted me to update again. So I proceeded to update the darn thing and it installed correctly. When I got to my password screen to to log in, it froze up on me and it took a while for it to register the letters that I'd pressed. I have an external keyboard which I used and it also froze. I am concerned because I don't know of a way to restore the update. Help would be greatly appreciated!!
